Every advance in technology is a threat to someone’s job. The more things are automated, the fewer people are needed to perform the same tasks. ATMs came for tellers. Self-checkout came for grocery checkout line clerks. Self-driving cars are coming for taxi and Uber drivers. And, now, AI has come for writers.

There are bots out there than can churn out passable, and occasionally compelling, copy in seconds. So, how do those of us who write for a living compete and stay relevant?

In the February, 2023 issue of PRSA‘s Strategies & Tactics, my article Surviving in the Age of AI Writing outlines my tips and suggestions for doing just that. They include adding quotes, humor, and examples to “humanize” your writing and using the AI where appropriate.
